Previous Hiatus Benefits
The series anime previously took a six-month break that began in late 2024 and ended in early 2025. The hiatus was for the animators to improve the visuals and let the comic to get further ahead to prevent a faster anime pace and lengthy recap episodes. The anime greatly benefited from this respite, and it has managed to deliver fans with countless action sequences, high-quality animation, and reduced non-canon content than previously.
Embracing Seasonal Format
Although a few summary installments appeared during the recent run, the positive effects of this updated approach far surpass the occasional interruption in the action. This additionally allows the manga, which is presently in the middle of the latest arc, to extend its lead on the adaptation. According to the announcement, this may result in one episode of the anime covering a single manga chapter, with some alternatively handling one and a half chapters or more to make up for time.
This concludes of an era for anime, as the epic saga is the final major title to ditch the old-school way of production, which focused on airing for most of the calendar. This explains why iconic series such as Naruto, and of course One Piece have so many side stories, and the quality of the animation can change drastically between installments and the following. Today, series creation is organized in cours, with a couple at most coming out each annually, enabling improved visuals and more faithfulness to the original work.
